Happy Halloween

You’d have to be living under a rock not to know that Halloween is tomorrow. The decorations and the candy have been in all the stores since Labor day. At least that is the earliest I can remember seeing them. So where did Tick or Treat start?

check out http://www.foodtimeline.org/halloween.html#trick   there is lots of info there about what occured and did not when it vomes to Halloween.I found it fascinating.

We all have our own favorites over the years.  Did you know that perrenial favorite, Candy Corn was introduced to the mass market in 1898 by the  Gorlitz confectionary company, the company that later made    Jelly Belly jelly beans. Did you know that nearly 9 Billion kernels are sold yearly! Talk about sugar rush.

I’m sure we all have our own favorites growing up.  I love chocolate but my favorite Halloween treat was when we went to neighborhood grocery store. This was not a 7-11 9r a Walgreen or anything like that. It was a grocery store run by neighbors who lived down the street from us.  The mother of the man who owned the store would make these amazing candy taffy apples and wrap them in wax paper. .  If you were a neighborhood kid and she knew you then you got one.   Now if this happened they would rush the tray to the hospital to be x-rayed before she would be allowed to pass them out.

What is your favorite HALLOWEEN candy?  Halloween memory?
